Russian President Vladimir Putin has signaled tolerance for cryptocurrencies, which are increasingly being watched by regulators around the world for fear that they could be used for money laundering and criminal activities.
"Cryptocurrency has a right to exist and can be used as a means of payment," Putin told CNBC in an interview with the Kremlin's Web site.
